Until Prospect Homes purchased it, the featured property remained undeveloped for several years. This triangle shaped lot connecting two neighborhoods, Briarwood and Bluffview, was a mess of sagging power lines and out-of-use utility poles. The entire property was such a challenge that the vacant lot changed owners several times before landing in the inspired hands of Brian Manes, owner of Prospect Homes.

The lofty vision for the Linwood house is centered on a design that approaches the triangular lot as an advantage, lending the home to be built in the unique architectural style of the Dogtrot house. Dogtrot homes, also known as breezeway houses, appeared during the early 19th century in the American South with the purpose of circulating cooler outside air into the home through the breezeway. While those pre-air conditioning days are long gone, the architectural influence of America’s past inspired Sarah Harper of H Design and the entire Prospect team to generate a unique floor plan for modern lifestyles.

The demands of modern life and technology pull people in all directions. The aim of the Linwood house is to bring people together. The lot shape provides the home with exceptional privacy from the street and from neighbors, allowing the architect to create a window and door design that floods the home with natural light. Stacking sliding doors marry the indoor space with the outdoors providing homeowners the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the people who matter. Relaxed yet luxurious finishes, an extraordinary floor plan and the story of a property renewed makes the Linwood house a favorite in Prospect Homes’ portfolio.
