Keen Homes

This Keen Homes custom-build was completed in August 2022. Situated among mature trees and gentle hills of Lakewood this property is located within two blocks of Lakewood Elementary School. The home was built for the current homeowner who participated fully in the architectural and interior finish designs. The homes contains 5,679 square feet living area, five bedrooms with their own baths, two powder baths, a home gym, home office, bar, large gameroom, elevator and pool with spa.

Visitors will be greeted in a spacious entryway by a floating staircase with glass balustrade. The stairs are naturally finished Oak to match hardwood throughout the house, including all bedrooms. Note the partial glass wall in the home office to help stay connected to family while working. All views from inside home are focused on the backyard pool and spa. Fronting the pool is a large, heated outdoor living area which includes a retractable screen and fireplace. The large sliding door between the Family Room and the patio pockets inside the wall which then combines both spaces into a large entertainment area. Upstairs the home is configured for family space in a layout that is easy and efficient. Saying this home has ample storage and closet space would be an understatement. The home design leans a little contemporary/transitional but is overall cozy and comfortable with clean lines and an absence of design clutter.

Classic Urban Homes

Previously built as a one-story home for another client, the new owners loved the home, but needed more space for their lifestyle and son. Enter the team of Classic Urban Homes, Marek Architecture and Smith and Ragsdale Design to the rescue. The addition involved adding the second floor en suite and living areas, including a loft for their son above the garage, a transitional space from the main house to the upstairs addition, converting two bedrooms into office spaces for the new homeowners and a very challenging outdoor pavilion situated on the side of a creek overlooking the backyard.
The ‘tree house suite’ consists of one bedroom and bathroom, a sitting/gaming room, a sound-proof music room for his band to practice, and a loft that doubles as a guest room/game room at the top of a custom-built spiral staircase. It’s affectionately known as a ‘tree house’ because the space overlooks the tree-lined view of the neighborhood through two walls of oversized windows. The new upstairs rooms give a view to the treetops, which creates such an amazing harmony with nature that it’s easy to forget you are indoors. Strategically placed art pieces bring further appeal to each room.
In order to transition from the first floor to the tree-house suite, a mud room was created, adding more storage and sitting space to take off your shoes when coming into the house from the garage.
Attention to every detail is obvious, given the mixed use of natural materials that creates architectural interest and character. Stained siding was used on the exterior of the second floor keeping with environmental harmony.

This stunning custom home was built by Mark Alexander of Alexander Hunt Distinct Homes in collaboration with architect John Lively.  The 4,594 square-foot home with 4 bedrooms and 4 baths and 2 powder baths has energy-efficient features such as high performance wood windows throughout, full foam insulation including interior walls insulated for sound, tankless water heaters, and a whole house backup generator.

This Old World Modern brick and stucco home offers an open concept floorplan with 11’ ceilings and striking walls of windows with an elegant balance of Traditional and Modern elements. No detail was overlooked with features including smart home automation, authentic wood-scraped floors throughout the home, a gourmet kitchen that includes an oversized leathered quartzite island , hand built cabinetry, Sub-Zero + Wolf professional appliances, and a working pantry. The exterior façade boasts a tile roof, copper gutters and a unique steel front door. The steel accents are carried into the home with numerous custom steel interior doors and a bespoke steel venthood.

Richard Miller Custom Homes

This Richard Miller custom-build renovation-addition project was completed in December 2022. Situated on a beautiful established street in University Park, this property is conveniently located in the heart of the Park Cities. The home was built for the current homeowners who participated fully in the architectural and interior finish designs. The home contains 3,920 square feet of living area, three bedrooms three full baths, one powder bath, a second level guest suite, home office, elegant courtyard patio, and a grand screened porch room with an outdoor fireplace overlooking the backyard.

Guests are greeted in a spacious dining hall with a fireplace, Italian custom dining table and beautiful wood flooring. The first level includes an elegantly appointed kitchen with informal dining and a large vaulted ceiling great room to provide the coveted open living concept. The great room has a large sliding door for access to the courtyard and the screened porch that provide elegant and comfortable outdoor living spaces. The front hall leads to a powder room, guest bedroom with a private bath, and an exceptionally generous primary suite with vaulted ceiling, wood beams, custom fireplace and master bath with custom his and hers closets. The back hall, with large sliding doors that wrap around the courtyard, provides access to the laundry room, home office, second guest bedroom and bath, large garage, and stairs to the second level guest suite.

The second level guest suite includes a combination living room and kitchenette with vaulted ceiling, convenient full size stack laundry closet, third guest bedroom, full bath, and large closet with access to attic space storage. The owners provided the architect with design direction that keeps the house true to its existing character and the second level hidden from street view. The home design, while traditional, has modern functionality, durability, and has an abundance of great character and charm that is only second to the lovely young at heart couple who masterminded this project that is flawlessly executed by Richard Miller Custom Homes.

After graduating from Baylor, Richard Miller joined a Fortune 500 homebuilder, where he quickly built a reputation for honesty,
leadership and attention to detail. In fact, he was named Manager of the Year within six months of joining the company, and won
designation as Team Player of the Year the following year. On nights and weekends, Richard developed a project management IT
innovation that was ultimately adopted by the company in several states. Subsequently, he was named to the company’s Legacy Club, which ranked him among the top managers for customer satisfaction in the firm’s 50-year residential construction history.

Classic Urban Homes

Classic Urban Homes built this 3,135-sq.-ft.-house as a final tribute to designer/builder extraordinaire Tom Greico. Tom, one of Dallas’ leading designers and builders, helped pioneer Mid-Century modern design that is so prevalent now in North Texas. He passed away on January 12, 2019.

This design is based on Tom’s original design for his personal home on this very lot.
