Subsequently, Richard was named to the Legacy Club, which ranked him among the top managers for customer satisfaction in the firm’s 50-year residential construction history.

As a Project Manager at Bauhaus Custom Homes and ArTex Development, Richard perfected his craft on a variety of ground-up single-family, multifamily, second story addition and remodel projects for celebrity and other discerning Dallas clientele.

The floor plan layout makes the home feel much larger than its 3,775 square feet because of its open design and the abundance of natural light throughout. Hoffmann Homes

Hoffmann Homes builds award-winning innovative green homes using quality materials, sustainable building practices, smart technologies, and reliable and efficient energy sources for maximum comfort.

Pioneering home builder and residential developer Alan Hoffmann was first inspired to pursue alternative construction methods after visiting his ancestral home on the Spanish island of Ibiza. The 400 year old home had three-foot thick perimeter walls comprised of stone excavated from the building site. The mass of these walls allowed the ground’s ambient temperature to conduct up through the walls to keep the house cool in the summer and warmer in the winter. Hoffmann replicates this elegantly simple system today in his distinctive mode of construction with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs).

Old-world features such as thick thermal mass walls, breezeways and whitewashed cement finishes are reimagined in a modern context in Hoffmann Homes’ newest build. Situated in the Abode @ White Rock green community, the home features high-performance windows, proper housing orientation and a storm shelter/pantry. Each home in the community is certified with the Department of Energy’s Net Zero Ready program, Energy Star Program and Green Built Texas.

While every Hoffmann Home starts with a high-performance building envelope (ICF), they also include conditioned attics, seal combustion furnaces, whole house dehumidification, whole house water filtration for indoor air and water quality. The homes are also solar-ready and are pre-wired for rapid electric vehicle charging. Other features include a natural gas tankless water heater, high-efficiency gas furnace, sealed combustion gas fireplace. These natural gas appliances help reduce energy use, lower utility costs and reduce emissions while increasing homeowner comfort.

Alan Hoffmann is the founder of Hoffmann Homes, a sustainable builder of single-family homes. He is also the principal and founder of 4Tree Development LLC, developers of sustainable communities.

As a leader in the environmental building movement, Alan has a long list of firsts that he has brought to the homebuilding marketplace. He was the first builder in 1995 to introduce Insulated Concrete Forms to North Texas. He was also the first homebuilder in the area to use this proven system for the exterior walls of a single-family home. Additionally, he built the first ICF homes in Dallas, Plano, Fort Worth, Mansfield, Terrell, Gunner, Lake Whitney, Rockwall, Oak Point, Flower Mound, Corsicana, and Kerens, Texas. His company then went on to design and build the first two homes in Dallas that were certified by the US Green Building “LEED for Homes” certification program. These two homes were also the first homes that were certified as LEED Platinum in Dallas. Another recent first is the development of Dallas’ first Net Zero Ready community. The Net Zero Ready certification is a certification that is granted by the US Department of Energy.

He is a member of the Dallas Builders Association (DBA) on which he has served as President for the term from 2017-2018. He currently is a Life Director on the Board of the Dallas Builders Association and serves on the executive board of the association. He has also served on the Executive Board of the Texas Builders Association as Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee.

Mr. Hoffmann also currently serves on the City of Dallas Environmental Commission as a technical advisor for the commission that is charged with implementing Dallas’ CECAP ( City Environmental Climate and Action Plan).

Shaddock Caldwell Builders & Developers, LLC

This Briarwood home was built by Shaddock Caldwell, designed by Janson Luter Architects, with interior design by Jordan Madison Interior Design.

The white brick exterior, with a polished flat metal roof and douglas fir facade, leads you into this 4,439-square-foot transitional home. Every nook of the 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath floor plan features abundant natural light, with aluminum-clad floor-to-ceiling windows thoughtfully placed throughout the first floor. The spacious kitchen showcases Dacor’s contemporary line of appliances. Modern brass accents pair with classic materials such as 5-inch white oak flooring and beams, as well as Leuders limestone
surrounding the large masonry fireplace at the heart of the home. French doors off of the back hall lead to a cozy covered patio overlooking the yard.

Upstairs, the exterior’s modern corner window is placed in a bedroom overlooking the front of the home. The main hall’s windows flood the space with great light, while leading visitors to the primary suite’s generous vaulted ceilings. The suite’s all-marble bath feels special, but updated, with white oak cabinets and Restoration Hardware lighting. The freestanding tub is positioned just in front of floor-to-ceiling windows for a prime soaking retreat, while the custom closet has more than enough room for two.

Shaddock Caldwell has served the Dallas area since 2010 as a custom home builder carrying on a family tradition of excellence that began over 50 years ago.

Son of Peter Shaddock Sr., a Dallas homebuilding icon, Todd Shaddock previously spent over 10 years building homes as part of the Shaddock companies in Dallas. Beginning in the field as a builder, he would eventually serve as Vice President of Operations, where he played a crucial role in the construction of several hundred homes per year.

Ben Caldwell began his real estate career with LandPlan Development Corp. As an associate, he directly participated in the acquisition, development and disposition of real property, with a focus on land development and affluent single-family lot development.

Known for energy efficient green building, Shaddock Caldwell has been a D Magazine Best Builder honoree for the past 9 years.

Alexander Hunt Distinct Homes

This stunning custom home was built by Mark Alexander of Alexander Hunt Distinct Homes in collaboration with architect John Lively and interior design firm Savvy House, Inc.  The Santa Barbara Modern stucco home offers an open concept floorplan with 11’ ceilings and large walls of windows.  No detail was ignored with features including a custom steel front door and steel doors leading to the study, whole home automation, large format tile throughout the house, a gourmet kitchen that includes an oversized marble island countertop, custom cabinetry, sub-zero Wolf professional appliances, and a bar with wine storage.

This 4,442 square-foot home with 4 bedrooms and 4 baths/2 powder baths has energy-efficient features such as wood windows throughout, full foam insulation with all interior walls insulated for sound, tankless water heaters, and sound-proof windows in the master bedroom.

Unique features include a Venetian plaster fireplace, a custom built-in dog kennel with access to a turfed dog run, and an exercise room with wall-to-wall mirrors, rubber flooring, and a ballet bar.  A luxurious primary suite has large windows overlooking the pool and a closet that is Kardashian-worthy.  The powder bath has a floating sink made from a slab of panda marble.  A thirteen-foot sliding door in the family room opens to an outdoor living space where you can relax the day away.  The covered patio area includes a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and a large fireplace of stucco and limestone.
